One consistent question I get whenever I do a webinar, answer customer questions or talk with coaching clients is . . . isn’t the health market saturated?
On the surface of things you might believe that it is. After all, you can’t throw a light-weight cotton ball without tripping over an ad for the latest fitness product, vitamin supplement, weight loss program or exercise equipment.
Health and fitness information, products and services are sold from large ecommerce sites like Amazon to small private websites.
But the reason there are so many companies and individuals selling products is because there are that many people buying products.
According to the Pew Internet and American Life Project there are over 215 million people who have Internet connections and are searching for health information and products online.
Let’s look at some numbers from Amazon for a minute. I’ll be quoting numbers for Kindle. They are determined from an alogrithm developed by people more well versed in math than I am and delivered through KD Suite which is software developed and sold by Dave Guindon. [There is a link on the right sidebar for his software – really, a good buy]
Amazon Best Seller Books: In the top 100 books [Kindle and hard copy] on 5/3/2014, 18 are in the health and fitness field.
Of those books the one that ranks the lowest holds a Kindle rank of 6,756 which equates 425 sales per month and $4,832 in sales of ONLY the Kindle and not the hard copy and NOT in any other forum except Amazon. This is just the LOWEST ranking health book in Amazon. Books that didn’t make this list are also making sales, each and every month.
Clickbank: Products on Clickbank are ranked by a Gravity Score. This score represents a performance statistics which essentially tells you in number format how many of the product were sold in the last two weeks. The higher the score, the higher the number of sales.
Products on the fourth page of a search for health products have a Gravity score that is higher than the products on the bottom of the first page for ANY OTHER SEARCH.
All of those products . . . getting all of those sales and there are still more people looking for more information and products to buy.
And, each day there are more people getting online.
So, before you believe that you couldn’t enjoy a slice of the health and fitness market, look at the numbers. These numbers say that there is still room for more people who are providing QUALITY content, information, products and services!
