I have been amazed at the amount and difference in the type of messages I’ve been receiving. And then today I got THIRTY SEVEN new comments on the blog that all had the same tone and flavor.
Each came with a Facebook.com link. Each appeared to be a genuine comment on the surface of things. But, none of the comments made sense when compared to the posts, each of the comments had misspellings and poor sentence structure and all of the comments were different lengths.
There were one liners and a couple that must have been around 400 words or more.
It made me think that maybe there’s a new game in town.
The type of junk mail email I’ve been getting has also been different. The return addresses are from JeldWen, FanDuel, LendingTree, Mayo Clinic, Supercycle, Outback Steakhouse and a variation of ABCNews, CNN or CNBC.
Is the quality of junk mail actually improving?
I opened an email the other day from Paypal that was some of the best phishing I’ve ever seen. There was one spelling error that just might have been legitimate. The return email address was very close to the one that Paypal uses. The formatting was correct and the logo was spot on.
It was a bit scary.
But, then the world returned to normal. My next email was from a bank in a foreign country telling me that someone had left me a LOT of money. All I had to do was respond with my bank account number and they would deposit all that lovely loot, just for me.
What had been upside down was suddenly right side up.
I didn’t have to click here for an amazing price on medication. I didn’t have to click here to get great rates on the mortgage. I just had to respond with my bank numbers and all would be right with the world once again.
Hope you got a smile out of the new junk mail – because aside from the sheer amount I get each day, it truly is amusing.
Have a wonderful weekend!
